Since its premiere in Berlin in the year 2010 the mobile Festival for urban space interventions “Ciudades Paralelas” by Lola Arias and Stefan Kaegi has been presented in Buenos Aires, Warsaw and Zurich.
The transferability of the individual pieces and installations by Ant Hampton, Tim Etchells, Christian Garcia, Mariano Pensotti, Gerardo Nauman, Ligna and Dominic Huber was an innovation in regards to production technique, but for the audience this was only of secondary importance. Supported by four simultaneous video recordings “Ciudades” now returns to Berlin and demonstrates how similar ideas in various locations can look different and be perceived differently.

Screening of the films (in Spanish, Polish and German with English subtitles), followed by a discussion with Stefan Kaegi, Timon Beyes and others. Host: Imanuel Schipper.

An event by the research project “Re/Okkupation – Gestaltung von Öffentlichkeiten im urbanen Raum durch theatrale Interventionen”

National Bank of Poland bans Ciudades Paralelas project by Agnieszka Kurant

On the day of the opening of Ciudades Paralelas Warsaw, on the 27th of may 2011, the National Bank of Poland bans the project "0 Zloty" by Agnieszka Kurant.

The Bank claims, that it may hurt the integrity of a National Symbol to produce coins that look very similar to 1-Sloty-Coins but show a 0 instead of a 1 on their fronthead. The artist says, the 0-Slotys are sculptures and not coins.

The performances of Angieszka Kurant will nevertheless take place on June 1st-3rd, everyday at 4.30pm departing from The Festival Centre in Nowy Wspanialy Swiat, Nowy Swiat 63
